Mindfulness-Based Coaching

Taking a mindful and holistic approach in coaching means that the coach supports the client to build awareness around their body, mind and emotions. This awareness enables the client to make conscious choices based on a deep inner knowledge of how each decision impacts their inner and outer landscape. As a BMC coach, you are trained to apply mindfulness-based coaching during each client session.

The key role of a holistic coach is to partner up with clients in their present moment and support their awareness of any physical, mental and emotional blocks that come up during a session. By overcoming these blocks, with the support of their mindfulness-based coach, the client becomes more resilient and better able to deal with future life obstacles on their own. The best outcomes in a session are when both client and coach have existing mindfulness and self-compassion practices, however a trained mindfulness-based coach can achieve impactful  results with a client who is starting their mindfulness journey.

Overview

Coaching from Within: Facilitating Change with Compassion is designed to cover three aspects of mindfulness practice (Mind, Body and Heart Presence) and how they correlate with the ICF coaching competencies. You are required to have attended Mind Presence: Emergence of Insights before progressing onto modules Body Presence: Somatic Regulation in Coaching or Heart Presence: Compassionate Self in Coaching.

Mind, Body and Heart Presence are focused on enhancing your capacity as a coach for embodied presence. Mindful Circles: Coaching the Community will support you to initiate and coach groups interested in mindfulness practice.

Throughout the program, you will receive a link with external resources including reading materials, recordings and practices. This material will be available for you to explore in between the modules and sessions.

To further support our coaches in honing their mindfulness-based coaching skills, BMC Academy offers Coaching Workouts where coaches come together for peer coaching and mentor feedback.

Coaching Workouts offer a unique opportunity for coaches to gain insight into the client experience, foster mutual learning and camaraderie, and learn through the thoughtful observations and constructive guidance of a mentor.

A minimum of seven Coaching Workout sessions per module are necessary to complete the program, and within the program they are run on a weekly basis
